We are very pleased to offer here the ultimate, top of the range Rolls-Royce, the Phantom VI State Limousine.
Launched at the 1968 Motor Show at Earls Court, the mighty Phantom VI
was an exclusive, cost-no-object, limousine for a limited and
discriminating clientele. The new model was a logical development of
the Phantom V which it replaced, retaining the same superlative
Mulliner, Park Ward Ltd. coachwork while replacing the old 6.2-litre
Silver Cloud III engine of its predecessor with the more powerful V8
Silver Shadow unit. Mulliner, Park Ward Ltd. constructed coachwork in
the traditional way with aluminium panels hand-beaten using wooden
panel bucks and rollers, pinned and clinched to a galvanised steel and
alloy frame.
Author Lawrence Dalton surely had the Phantom VI in mind when he titled
his Rolls-Royce book 'The Classic Elegance' and although each model
produced by Mulliner, Park Ward was to similar specifications, in each
case the customer's detailed requirements were provided for and this
was certainly not production line manufacture. The British Motor
Industry recognised the status of the Phantom VI when it presented Her
Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with a Rolls-Royce Phantom VI Mulliner, Park
Ward limousine as a Silver Jubilee gift in 1977.
History on file records that this car was ordered in 1967, possibly
with entertainer Englebert Humperdink as its expected first owner.
Delivery was originally scheduled for late 1968 but delays in
manufacture resulted in the first scheduled owner not taking delivery.
In the time elapsed between order and delivery the specification of the
Rolls-Royce Phantom had been enhanced and in due course this car was
delivered on 5th August 1969 to dealers Mead of Maidenhead the invoice
price was £11,414. Detailed build specification sheets for this car are
on file. The full history of the car is not recorded but information on
file suggests that the car was in Germany in the 1980s, during which
time it saw occasional use on ceremonial duties, perhaps carrying Her
Majesty The Queen. Details also on file suggest that the Duchess of
Kent rode in this car. The car subsequently spent time in Brunei. While
in Germany it appears that the interior was reupholstered to the
highest standard in Baroda Blue cloth.
The previous owner acquired the car in 1995, the Phantom joining a
small fleet of chauffeur driven limousines. In December 2000, the car
was in good running order. He used the car occasionally and some time
ago embarked on adjustments to the automatic gearbox. We feel that this
work was not completed and the car stood in less than ideal conditions
for some years. Overall however we feel that the car is worthy of
recommissioning and may well be sounder mechanically than outward
appearance would suggest. This elegant limousine comes with old and
current style Swansea registration documents, a framed photograph taken
some years ago and a detailed history file.
This is the cheapest example of this stunning motorcar available in the
world today, in fact we have found examples ranging from £125,000 to
£200,000 in very good condition. There are very few Phantoms in this
condition and we feel that it represents great value in todays market.
This may well be your only opportunity to buy a Phantom VI in this
price bracket.
hi hi hi this is good.
